What is a stepper motor driver?

Stepper motor drive is an actuator that converts electrical pulses into angular displacement. When the stepper driver receives a pulse signal, it drives the stepper motor to rotate at a fixed angle (called "step angle") in the set direction, and its rotation operates step by step at a fixed angle. The angular displacement can be controlled by controlling the number of pulses to achieve accurate positioning; At the same time, the speed and acceleration of the motor rotation can be controlled by controlling the pulse frequency, thereby achieving the purpose of speed regulation and positioning.

When the driver issues an error during actual operation, how should we determine whether the stepper motor drive is good or bad?

1. When there is another driver of the same specification that is working properly on the application site, the driver that is currently working can be replaced. If it is working properly, it can be directly determined that the driver is faulty; If the operation is not normal, it can be determined that the cause of the malfunction may be the motor, control signal line, or controller.

2. After the driver is powered on, whether the fault light of the driver flashes can be used to identify the cause of the fault based on the flashing information; If no fault conditions occur and the drive still reports a fault, it can be determined that the drive is faulty.

3. Power up the drive and check if the power light on the drive is working properly. If there is a green power indicator light on the DDON drive HD235/HD265, the indicator light should flash when the power is normal, and the red indicator light should not light up; When the red indicator light flashes, it indicates a drive malfunction or a problem.
